I found this rather cool thing --> uniqcode.com/typewriter/ the other day, so I had to do something with it

This.

Every time I read a poem of yours, I'm convinced it's the best one ever, but this one . . . this one may end up being king of the hill longer than most.  In fourteen words, you've captured an enormous range of story, emotion, growth, and wisdom.  Right off the bat, the "so long without a home" makes us feel like we've been roaming the earth for eons, never finding rest; the kind of exhausted restlessness that you seem to sense in the farthest reaches of your soul.  The metaphor of the heart and the stray cat is brilliantly vivid and unexpected, and more than that, it adds an extra layer of depth to the feeling of the wanderer: literally everything else has been stripped away, and we're left with nothing but ourselves; "strays" in the universal reality of everything.  Which makes a genius transition to the perfect ending: home and happiness was in us all along.

Yeah, that whole thing about collecting autographs before winning the Pulitzer........I'm collecting mine now, please, lol.

Sensational piece, my dear.  Bravo!

Well AlwaysRainCheck's poem just made me all sobbing  .....
and now after reading your comment I'm balling  with the feels...
You two really are so talented...
You both are able to express emotions that almost hurt too much to express.
I read your poems(with perfect timing by the way, I feel there' s magic involved! lol ) and feel like once I've read it, its like an exhale releasing all the emotions that are pent up in a cage that I didn't know how to find the key to.....

I'm seriously honored to the point of speechlessness. First because I feel like my favorite author just blessed me; and for the way you read this as if you were there while I was jotting down the thoughts...I don't know how you do it, but you're amazing. A million times thank you for your words, they mean more than the world to me.

Lol, my urge to hug you for a solid hour is growing increasingly strong these days.

I can't say that mine does either, though I don't mind spending time there! (I must ask you to explain a physical paradox, because I enjoy one!)

I am more comfortable among trees than people...I'm a cat at heart! (Well I don't know if I am prepared enough to explain one but the inspiration behind the title was the Schrödinger's cat paradox!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-02-13 16:28:16 +0000 UTC]

I love the trees over the city any day, but that said I do like it sometimes. Maybe, you have a tree or a flower at heart? NO ONE SAID YOU CAN'T BE A TREE! (YOU DON'T NEED TO GO THERE, NOT NOW, NOT EVER, NEVER EVER, BECAUSE FOREVER SHALL I NOT PULL THE LEVER AND BECOME MORE DEADER! [if you top that rhyme, I literally will do anything you want for a week] HAHAHA!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-02-15 01:21:10 +0000 UTC]

I find something to enjoy everywhere I go...but I'd feel trapped living too far away from nature, be it trees or large bodies of water. Maybe I am a bird at heart. (I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO TRY, TOP THAT RHYME AND MAKE YOU CRY! [You made a Schrödinger's cat's rhyme!! And it was perfect! I'm geeking out!]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-02-18 17:07:39 +0000 UTC]

I agree with that...I really need to find some nature close-to-home, so to say. I live in a really suburban area, so we don't really have anything that I can go out & be like hey! I've never seen the ocean!! That's a fact! I can agree with that...so long as you are as free as a bird! www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGopsk… (Fun fact: This is my father's favorite song probably!) (HAHAHAHA, I WOULD HOPE YOU WOULD TRY! [I didn't do it on purpose! I swear!! Geeking or freaking??]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-02-22 01:09:20 +0000 UTC]

I've never seen the ocean either...just the sea, a couple of times. But I'm lucky enough to live really close to a forest. I'm afraid I'm a caged bird for the time being, but I will be free! (My dad loves Lynyrd Skynyrd too...in all honesty I cringe every time I hear the opening riff of "Sweet home Alabama" ) [You really didn't do it on purpose?? Couldn't I be a freak who's geeking out? ]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-02-24 20:32:13 +0000 UTC]

The sea is better than a lake! I have seen almost all of the Great Lakes! I'm really lucky that I live next to a....wait, I don't live next to anything! I can set you free if you'd like.... (Why do you cringe? Our father's seem to be similar...) [Of course I did! Why can't you be a geek, who is nerding and flirting with the idea that they are a freak? I don't know what I am saying!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-02-27 00:42:40 +0000 UTC]

Did you know that the Mediterranean sea is basically a giant lake? Lol, I thought you lived next to a lake!! You can set me free??? (Have you ever heard the opening riff of Sweet Home Alabama   ...Maybe they are the same age. ) [I don't know what you are saying either...I am all those things at once but I never flirt!! ]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-02-28 16:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but its big enough to be a sea! I don't live next to a lake, but I live near to one! We have a very small creek nearby! I can if you want! (Yes...I know how lovely you find it! That song is ridiculous! My dad actually had the records out last night and we listened to a couple of songs...no fiesta! ) [Do you think I ever know? I might...you flirt with ideas more than you could ever know! It is the same with me! ....speaking of flirting, I have an awkward habit where people will think I'm flirting when I'm just being friendly!!]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-01 02:05:18 +0000 UTC]

And it has salty water! Oh I see the difference...there are only trees and mountains near my home! Do it then, I can't wait!! (Lovely...sure, I can barely stand it! Listening to music with somebody else is always interesting though, my dad used to be a DJ! ) [I think you don't and that's the best thing ever! It's because you are charming!! When charming people act friendly people think they are flirting; ask me how I know! ]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-07 00:55:28 +0000 UTC]

I don't need any more salt water! I would love to see more mountains, though we have plenty of trees! What am I doing again? (Stand what? My dad used to be a DJ too! Well, of sorts! We have a lot of old records...boxes full! I bought a record yesterday..) [Why must that be the best hing ever? I try not to be charming!! I really don't...how do you know? I am just friendly, I guess! ]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-07 19:04:27 +0000 UTC]

You do if you need to cook pasta! Did you ever see a tree on a mountain? You wanted to set me free (I have no idea...I have loads and loads of old records from my dad's DJ days too! I love old records...What record did you buy?) [Something has to be! I know because I act just friendly too and people always think I am flirting, it's the curse of charming people! ]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-09 17:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Well I don't need to cook pasta! Of course, they're always lonely too! Do you want to be set free? I don't know how I would do it (Its the same here...we have too many. My dad was listening to scratched up one from his childhood...it was quite different! I bought an old Vivaldi concerto...) Nothing has to be! I don't know if its charming it or what...its a curse though! I'm far from charming though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-13 02:38:08 +0000 UTC]

What are you cooking then? What if it is a forest on a mountain? I should learn how to fly! (One of these days I'll have to organize them better. Oh I love Vivaldi, who's playing it?) A course would be the contrary, people thinking you are being rude! Fine, don't believe me!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-17 17:22:57 +0000 UTC]

Not pasta! It is indeed and it is amazing! You should and I will learn how to swim the deepest of depths! Then I we can teach one another and I can be a crazy-flying-swimming-fish-man-thing! (You better do that! The Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra...I think they're from Hungary? There's a few other names too and I think they are also Hungarian!) Me, rude? Bah humbug! I won't!

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-20 01:40:31 +0000 UTC]

That's not an answer! What an amazing plan...we could be mutants and experience the best of two worlds! (I don't know where to start! They are indeed from Hungary, I think I have a recording of them playing Vivaldi too!) Oh hi there Mr.Scrooge, Merry Christmas!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-25 02:20:45 +0000 UTC]

What do you want from me? What about the deep, dark underground? we may never experience that craziness! (Start where you think is best! You should take a picture of that recording or something! I'm curious if its the same!) What is this Christmas thing? You mean Xmas?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-28 16:16:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't even know what I want from me! The underground is way too dark and dusty, we'd end up all sad and pale like the people in that book! (The first thought is to set fire to everything! I will find it!) You are the expert, Mr.Scrooge, what's the difference between Christmas and Xmas?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-29 15:21:53 +0000 UTC]

I can say the same, but I don't know what I want from me, or you! Yes, but its useful to spend a little time there! (Please don't, because you will learn everything is made of water! You will not!) No! There is only Yule!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-03-30 16:27:46 +0000 UTC]

What if I just want some tea and a book!?! So you spend time in the underground, it doesn't sound healthy! (Everything is indeed made of water, except the things that burn!!! Yes, I will!) Funny how I always thought Christmas, Xmas and Yule were the exact same thing!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-03-31 22:23:50 +0000 UTC]

Then we will sit quietly in robes, with a fire, and read with tea! I told you I live in a cave! Why isn't it healthy?! (But some things burn without water and they aren't made of water!!! No you won't!) What about Father Time? He's in this too! With Yule, Mother Nature, and Cap'n Jack Sparrow!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-04-05 00:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Now that's a plan I like! Okay, okay you are a bear then! It's healthy if you are a bear!! (My brain is burning with water right now!! I probably won't!) You are forgetting the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy, it's not a real party without them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-04-06 15:55:35 +0000 UTC]

Shhh! No talking in this quiet room! Can I be Bearman and not Batman? (Certainly not my weird cousin, BAREMAN, we don't need to talk about what he does. ) (How does it burn with water? doesn't it cool with water? Unless you're drinking boiling water? Of course and we need others too! Who can we invite?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-04-08 23:38:39 +0000 UTC]

I'm barely whispering! Could you be Barman, I need a drink! (Your cousin is BAREMAN?!?! Lol I think I can imagine what he does! ) It's not water, it's vodka!! I sometimes drink boiling water though. How about that tiny man who lives on the other side of the rainbow?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-04-18 23:03:59 +0000 UTC]

But barely is still yelling! No, I am BUCKETMAN and I'll be right back...I need to go the local well...ya know...for that water thang. (Yeah, him, yeah, he's from a weird side of the family. If anyone asks, we just pretend like he drinks a lot or that's he's mental or something! ) OH HECK YES! Why would you want to burn your mouth??? He's just trying to find his way home, back to Ireland!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-04-23 00:40:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually whispering! Nice to meet you, Bucketman...are you going to the wishing well, by chance? I was hoping for something more alcoholic than water. (Tell your cousin Bareman to wear a robe at least!! There are young ladies here! ) YOU LIKE VODKA? I don't burn my mouth on purpose! He carries a pot full of gold though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-04-28 15:03:41 +0000 UTC]

That's weird! I don't like it when people whisper! Not this time of year, I'm afraid, the wishing well always runs dry! Would you prefer me to be vodka man? (No, yet, I'm going to throw him on a remote island! There's only monkeys there!) I DON'T MIND VODKA! You're still a fool! Does he scream random Irish things?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-05-01 19:13:14 +0000 UTC]

It can be frightening when people whisper! Oh it runs dry in Spring...so when is the best time to go to the wishing well? You could be wine man! (That's a better plan, I'm sure monkeys won't mind his presence!) VODKA AND ORANGE JUICE! I'm always a fool! He does, but I don't understand Irish!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tuiskulumi In reply to AlwaysRainCheck [2016-05-02 18:59:23 +0000 UTC]

Especially when you think you're alone in a dark room! The best time of year to come, is near the end of the year after the harvests and in the middle of Autumn rains. Those dreary days ask for an appearance of something wonderful to come. I really could be...I DOWNED TWO WHOLE BOTTLES THIS WEEKEND. (Actually I think the monkeys like to throw all sorts of odds-and-ends at him!) NEVER! Can I be one too? Who is this man again?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AlwaysRainCheck In reply to tuiskulumi [2016-05-05 17:42:41 +0000 UTC]

In that case it would be just plain terrifying! That might be my favorite time of the year...you described it in a very poetic way. Do you prefer red or white wine? TWO WHOLE BOTTLES IN THREE DAYS?? (I'm not too fond of monkeys but I bet he is kinda rude to them!) NEVER SAY NEVER! Sure, let's join the fools club! A tiny Irish man who lives on the other side of a rainbow!

I love the simplicity of this, and the near-rhyme of home and alone. It gives the ending a note of playfulness that lifts up an otherwise sad beginning.
