Description
These are Belted Galloway cows. They originated from Scotland and are typically raised for the beef industry. They aren't as popular as Angus cows but they are the best breed for cold weathers. These cows are great at taking care of their offspring too. Moms can get SUPER protective of their babies, which is a good trait to have since farmers don't have to keep a super close eye on the young calves. At the college I attend, I'm in the Belted Galloway group, which is a club that teaches you about the beef industry and what needs to be done to care for these awesome animals. I am a vegetarian so this really wasn't the appeal to me. I just love being around these gorgeous cows, and I even got to halter train one of them.
