⤷The Cheshire Cat, Alice in Wonderland
echelon| One
division| Executors
weapon| Mechanised Staff
⤷ Nicknamed "Zeus"
⤷ Cheshire's weapon is a plain, black, very normal-looking staff. However, this staff has built-in sensors that react to the electric discharge from his hands, shifting sections of its shiny surface to reveal a glowing, cybernetic material on its inside. This material conducts and amplifies the discharge Cheshire lets off, allowing him to better use his ability in combat. He also uses the staff directly in battle.
⤷ The cybernetic qualities of the staff make it very difficult and highly dangerous to use in water, and for however long it takes to dry afterwards, and because of the way it glows, it can put him at a disadvantage during battles in dark areas.
ability| Charged Body
⤷ Electrokinesis/Electric Release
⤷ Cheshire stores electricity inside his body, building it up over time, and releases it in order to attack. He can release the stored electricity from any part of his body, but prefers to rely on his hand, feet and elbows while in combat. This charge is also useful for short-circuiting electronic devices, shutting down or overloading lights, incapacitating people, generating backup power, and occasionally intercepting electro-magnetic transmissions. He has more difficulty manipulating outside electricity than that from his own body.
weaknesses | Useless in water or for stealth / Can accidentally short-circuit things or shock people when experiencing intense emotions / Extreme target for static electricity / Can overload on electricity -- however, his limit is unknown. If he overdoes it, Cheshire could very well become temporarily to permanently paralysed, or go into cardiac arrest / Ability is harder to activate in the cold, but a little too easy to use in warm weather.
strengths | Useful for shutting down security systems and generating power in emergencies / Highly effective for knocking out opponents / The electricity can be released from anywhere on his body, or can be channeled into his staff or other electronic devices / In dangerous situations, when his senses are heightened, the currents can be channeled through the ground to detect nearby movement / Sensitive to electromagnetic signals / Can use sparks to temporarily light up dark spaces, or attract enemies into traps.
PERSONALITY
+ | intelligent / supportive / hard-working / loyal / passionate
-- | prankster / childish / petulant / irritable / sarcastic
⤷ Cheshire is somewhat of a lone wolf. A lot of the time, he prefers to work by himself, and is very immature. He is also more-or-less in a constant bad mood, but, much like a child, can almost always be appeased with candy, or (unlike a child) a good fight. More often than not, he can be found playing obnoxious pranks or complaining about anything and everything. However, despite the worse side of his personality being more prominent, Cheshire can actually be surprisingly open and compassionate when he feels like it. (ie. When someone gets close enough to being in is good books that he doesn't feel the urge to electrocute them every two seconds.) While still hopelessly sarcastic, Cheshire is much more caring, supportive and is generally kinder to those he's closer to. In addition, Cheshire is extremely hardworking and passionate, putting his all into everything he does, and looking down on those that seem to be even remotely disloyal.
likes | the dark / circuses (acrobatics especially) / playing pranks / sour candy and chocolate / cats / dancing
dislikes | bright lights / doctors and dentists / riddles and puzzles / heights / being pranked / water
HISTORY
⤷ Cheshire was born as Roman Byrne-Lanning to two loving parents, who just so happened to be the owners of a travelling circus, known only as the 'Robotik House.' His father, Adrian, was the ringleader, while his mother, Clara, played the roles of trapeze artist and beast tamer. While travelling with their world-famous show, Roman was home-schooled and, under his mother's guidance, trained in the art of performing. At age 7, he officially joined their mass of performers as an expert acrobat and magician. The show took off again, people coming from far and wide to see the so-called 'child genius' that Roman proved himself to be. For the next 5 years, the family knew nothing but success.
It was shortly after Roman's 12th birthday that things started going south. The Robotik House's fame was fading fast, and both eager audiences and enthusiastic performers began leaving them behind in favour of newer, shinier entertainment provided by the Government. His parents quickly devolved into bundles of stress, pushing themselves to create new acts and advertising like mad. They were running the lowest ratings they'd had in years, and Clara, in her frustration, began blaming their shortcomings on their son. They were at their lowest point, resorting to performing on the streets wherever they could. This would be the end of the Robotik House; but, of course, that wasn't all.
Roman, fed up with the false blame he was recieving from his mother, threw a tantrum. It was the day they finally decided to shut the circus down for good, and Clara had had enough. She stepped forward, grabbing her son by the shoulder, other hand raised. Roman screamed and suddenly, the light above him shattered. Clara fell back with a screech, clutching her arm in pain and reeling when she noticed a scar under her skin, branching out in root-like tendrils -- as if she had been struck by lightning. The boy stood over her in shock at his own actions, sparks of electricity dancing around the edges of his wide eyes. Adrian, who had been trying to calm Clara down from a few metres away, stared between his partner and his son with a rising sense of panic. The woman, hysterical, flung herself at the nearest phone, and Adrian made up his mind. He grabbed his son by the wrist, threw open the door and ran.
They ran, and ran, and ran. For days, weeks, months, they were constantly on the run. They would have run for years, if only they hadn't been found. A year of running hadn't done anything for Roman's escape techniques, and both he and his father were quickly captured by the Government. That was the last time Roman saw the man who had protected him with his life, and will always be his most vivid memory. Adrian was taken away, and Roman, now 14, was thrown into the Penitentiary with the other DIFFERENT. Locked in his casket for the better part of 5 years, Roman barely communicated with anyone, but instead talked and sung to himself -- reminding himself every day who he was, his age, his abilities (powered or not), about the things that made him happy, and his father. The actions of his mother left him feeling betrayed, and he grew cold, doing his best to wipe her from his memory. He tried to short-circuit his casket multiple times, but to no avail. When his casket was finally broken, Roman emerged changed. He was Cheshire now, and he would do anything to become the monster his mother feared.
EXTRA
⤷ Constantly has little sparks of electricity around his eyes as a bit of a 'warning.' Sometimes, when people touch him, he might let off an accidental charge or zap them.
⤷ He has a picture of himself and his father in his locket. Originally, his mother was in the picture, but he tore the piece off and burnt it out of spite. The locket is his most prized possession.
⤷ Cheshire, due to being an acrobat, is extremely flexible. He uses his flexibility to maneuver in battle.
⤷ He uses his electricity to prank people. He's literally a human hand-shocker. (Good luck!!)
⤷ His favourite phrase (or, as he likes to say, his motto) is "Move quietly and carry a big stick." This is because his father used to say this to him a lot whenever he was doing acrobatics with a staff. (It also fits in with his weapon, so there's that.)
