Description Okay so this is a compilation of pictures showing how we made gaara's gourd for my boyfriend's AX2012 cosplay~!

Basically it's just 2 beach balls, one 24cm the other 12cm. Blown up and held together by duct tape. Then completely covered in tape and multiple layers of paper mache. We did four layers of the elmer's glue and water mix which i would rather not do if we decide to make another one. The newspaper didn't stay flat in the middle. Then spray painted the entire thing and hand painted the seals on. It needed more seals but we ran outta time to paint them.

The cork is just painted styrofoam and the opening lip was made from a plastic yogurt container cut in half and taped to the top.

I love the thing! It was fun to make! Although if we decide to make another one i could do a much better job if i took my time, this one was kinda rushed... *made it in like 5 days while working on my lion fists*

Have any questions just ask!

wow, you are so talented! Good job on the gourd!:3 um this may seem like a really dumb question, but I cant find any 12" beach balls anywhere! where did u get yours? and lso, how did u do the cork and hole at the top of the gourd? Sry...so many questions haha

Thank you so much! That's not a dumb question! Finding the right sizes was difficult but it was also the time where summer was starting but I found one at the dollar store and another at the supermarket. I would maybe try a sports store, pool supplies shop or party store where they might have these all year round. To make the top rim we used a butter or sour cream tub, cut a hole in the top to leave a rim and duct taped it on top. The cork was actually just styrofoam we cut and painted but spray paint erodes styrofoam so it didn't work very well and we lost it at the con. I haven't found a replacement yet but you could maybe get the foam sheets, cut and hot glue them into the shape of the cork. hope that helps!

I'm not sure they have a meaning but they're seals placed on gaara's gourd to keep the sand under control I think. =x

That account is so old I forgot I had it!

I'm curious about that anime now. What's the show called?
