Sunset in Florence, Italy. I am probably happier about this shot than I should be.

This is a lovely image which perfectly sums up a warm, balmy summer evening in Florence. The colours of the sky are a great contrast to the shadows of the narrow streets below. There is a nice balance to the composition with an even spacing between the tower, bridge and other lit up buildings which do a good job as focal points. The only improvement I would comment on is about sharpness. I saw this image on your website and I find it strange that it seems sharper there than on deviantart so perhaps it is just dA. Applying a post processing sharpening technique such as "high pass" filter might accentuate the edges and improve the feeling of sharpness.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful critique! I couldn't agree more on the sharpness - I have optimised it for web viewing with High Pass but dA doesn't seem to like me very much! Maybe it's just the size of the file? Perhaps if I attempted to upload a slightly bigger one for viewing...

Yeah perhaps that might work! I know that dA seems to dull down the colours and vibrancy of photos so perhaps it does something shit to the sharpness too?

excellent color for a dusk shot, with very nice composition, but I would like the horizon to be a bit more level.

Thank you! Admittedly I had a lot of trouble trying to get it level, so I ended up using the vertical lines rather than horizontal lines as guidance... Maybe I should give this another try.
