Orion is the emperor of the greatest nation of Amaltheren, Restaz, the colossal human Eastern empire. Heir of the oldest royal lineage of the continent, Orion became emperor after his father's tragic death, after a military campaign which he was the sole survivor with his cousin Shoren. What has happened in the Eastern forests, why the previous emperor was found devoured, how Shoren and Orion have survived, and why she didn't kill Orion while he raped her five years earlier? Nobody knows.

But at 24 years, Orion became Restaz' emperor. The people love this tall man, powerful, charismatic, deliciously sarcastic, arrogant, womanizer. He seduces, he's scary, he is revered as a god, like all the previous emperor. He also prepares the most terrible war from centuries, for destroy his old enemies Astalokë and Cérès.

Yet the Emperor carries a burden, a secret that could destroy Restaz and his power. Only Shoren knows it. She also knows he hides to everybody the loss of his leg, than she have cut herself in the Eastern woods. She knows that Orion is not this brash and arrogant man that he plays for the court and the people, even if he's a man rude, cold, lonely. And if for years she supports her emperor, she wants to follow him until the death, she wonders if one day she will not regret her choice.
