Origin
(---"
In the realm of The Kern-Verse , on the far-end of the Milky Way Galaxy opposite of both Earth and Kern, there existed an Earth-like planet whose name was lost to history. One that actually had a spirit within it, it's own version of Earth's Gaia if you will. However, centuries prior to the present time, the planet was utterly obliterated as collateral damage due to a massive conflict between two alien races involving very powerful superweapons. This also resulted in the planet's spirit being shattered but yet still "alive" in a sense with it's pieces still inside the individual pieces of the former celestial body. These spiritual shards brought each individual piece to life and effectively turning them into their own species of living meteors / meteorites that travel around the galaxy in large herds via manipulating their own gravitational fields.

And due to the violent nature of how the spirit was shattered, each World Shard has a built-in deep-seated hatred for the two alien species that destroyed it due to their squabbling and, if a herd of them end up crossing paths with either species, they will full on attack those alien's ships by ramming straight into their ships in great numbers until those ships are utterly pulverized into space debris. Though besides those two aliens, World Shards aren't usually hostile to other races in the galaxy unless they are attacked themselves.

Sometimes World Shards end up landing on the different planets across the galaxy and effectively explore it with great curiosity. And they are quite the event whenever a herd ends up on a populated planet like how one would watch a meteor shower at night before the World Shards retreat back into space and travel to a different location."---)

Here's another early character from WAY back in my Teen years when I was messing with MS Paint. I actually had several of them done back then, but I think I ended up deleting the majority of them to clear up space on an old Zip Drive I had my stuff on so I didn't clutter up our family computer. Which I'm still kinda kicking myself for since I could've really used those in recent times. Though I remember at least two of them so those COULD make an appearance at some point. One being another breed of mutant fauna hybrid and one being a possible Biomorph .

Anyway, I had help with making this species' backstory from ivy7om who came up with the original concept that I further expanded on.

Also I used PixAI  after making a reference picture in GIMP and put that in PixAI's image-to-image function and then edited the result in GIMP to what you see here.

The World Shards are an open source concept created specifically for use by anyone. Feel free to use it any way you wish. You must also give creators (me and ivy7om) credit.
