The fact that you managed to draw this difficult texture of the coat makes you a perfect artist IMHO. Really great!!

TWEED IS IMPOSSIBLE. You did a great job on it, however. The texture is incredible in this.

IDK what everyone is talking about. Personally, I LOVE the coat texture and overall feel of the drawing. You may think you murdered it, but I think it gives it a wonderful character all it's own. I do wonder how you got the dimension into the hair though. the specks of white in the hair are very fine, and so I have to ask, is that all technique, and a steady hand? or did you use a white pen or something? Because I find when drawing with graphite, I lose alot of my highlights, or that they end up so much larger and sloppier than I wish. (that's probably why I usually draw with a dip pen and ink... finer point makes for easy detail, and less smears if you're good at knowing how to draw to avoid the ink while it's wet. that and I've always been one for hatching techniques.) either way, very curious as to the method of which you used to create the vast array of textures. in this piece specifically. If you find the time, I would love to hear back from you!

I've been doing this kind of artwork in my artroom, everything looks great except for the texture of the coat. How did you do that?

Oh, the joys of tweed. But you nailed it! And it even looks absolutely effortless. Again, glorious detail and a very heartbreaking no-nonsense style. I love it. He looks so vulnerable.
