“Oh no, not them! Why are they here?” thought Scarlet worriedly in her mind as she, Sonic, Mr Tinker, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Mayor Duncan and the villagers watched with nervous/worry looks on their faces at the black and red-furred, red-eyed male hedgehog, white and blue-furred, blue-eyed female hedgehog and the white fur and tan-skinned, teal-eyed female bat jumping and flying down from the rooftop that they’re standing on.

“Hold on, Shadow, Ivory and Rouge! This isn’t what it looks like!” said Sonic as he, Scarlet, Vector, Espio and Charmy quickly stood protectively in front of Mr Tinker.

“Yeah, please listen first!” said Scarlet.

“Then talk fast, blue and red. We definitely heard him say he was rebuilding Eggman Land. And you two know how stubborn Shadow and Ivory are.” said the female bat named Rouge.

“Yeah, we know very well how stubborn they are, Rouge.” thought Scarlet sarcastically in her mind at Rouge.

“Look, I’ll admit that “Eggman Land” thing he mention earlier is iffy……… But I’m sure it’s okay! This isn’t Doctor Eggman, Shadow!” said Sonic as he swiftly step in front and prevent the black and red-furred male hedgehog named Shadow from getting close to Mr Tinker.

“Th-That’s right! Apparently he looks an awful lot like me, that’s what they told me! B-But I’m not him, I’m just your friendly neighbourhood handyman-Mr Tinker!” said Mr Tinker slightly nervously to Shadow, Ivory and Rouge.

“Mr Tinker, seriously?” said the white and blue-furred female hedgehog named Ivory with a deadpan look on her face while Rouge chuckled a little at the name.

“Yes, seriously, Ivory.” said Scarlet with a nod of her head.

“He’s totally lost his memory. Me, Scarlet, the Chaotix, the Mayor and the villagers-we’ve all seen and confirmed it.” whisper Sonic to Shadow.

“So? Losing one’s memory doesn’t make them any less dangerous.” said Shadow as he grab and push Sonic aside.

“Yeah-Okay-Fair point, but he-” said Sonic as he grab hold of Shadow’s shoulders, only for Shadow to move away from Sonic’s grip and went toward Mr Tinker again.

“You’re not listening! You’re-not-getting near-and-touching him!” said Sonic as he speed up and prevent Shadow (who also speed up to get past Sonic) from getting to Mr Tinker until Shadow grab and push Sonic aside again but Sonic grab hold of Shadow’s arm, run and pinned Shadow firmly against a wall with his arm, which make Shadow glared at Sonic before he and Sonic run off in blue and black blurs away from the others and out of the village.

“I should’ve stayed in bed today!” groaned Mr Tinker.

“What’re we standing around for? We’re the Chaotix! C’mon, boys! Let’s help Sonic out!” said Vector.

“Roger!” said Espio.

“Yeah!” said Charmy.

But soon Vector, Espio and Charmy gave up when they see how fast and how far Sonic and Shadow had run out of the village and over and beyond the mountain.

“………There’s no way we can keep up with either of them.” groaned Vector with a resigned look on his face.

“I could. I’m just……… recovering from defeating the badniks earlier.” said Espio.

“Maybe we can cheer for Sonic from the sidelines?” suggested Charmy.

“Humph, bunch of cowards.” thought Ivory coldly in her mind at the Chaotix.

“No! We……… uh……… find and confront the culprit who brought Shadow and Ivory here! This is all your fault, lady!” snap Vector as he turned and point an accusing finger at Rouge.

“Goodness! Me?” said Rouge as she pointed at herself with an innocent look on her face.

“Oh Vector. Is this really the time for you to pin the blame on Rouge? She’ll just use cryptic words to manipulate and make you think otherwise.” thought Scarlet as she shake her head in dismay at Vector.

“Yeah- you! Who else? What were you thinking, bringing Shadow and Ivory here?” demanded Vector.

“Shadow and Ivory was looking for Eggman to ensure he wasn’t planning a counter-attack. Neither Shadow nor Ivory are the pulling punches types. Any unfortunate mobians who got in their way-like, say-some certain detectives-might get hurt or worse. So isn’t it convenient you got that anonymous tip when you did? You had plenty of time to find your target, verify him, and contact and bring in Sonic and Scarlet. By the time I “helped” Shadow and Ivory find this village, your investigation of Eggman here was complete and you had two handy heroic countermeasures by your sides.” said Rouge calmly and smugly to Vector.

“She’s the one who gave them the tip about Mr Tinker before they call me and Sonic? That sounds like what she’d do alright.” thought Scarlet in her mind.

“So she’s the one who told them first, huh?” thought Ivory as she gave a cold look at Rouge.

“Wait……… How would you know about the tip unless………” said Vector with a confuse look on his face before he, Espio and Charmy realise what Rouge meant.

“……… I don’t get it.” said Charmy, more confused now (which make both Vector and Espio give him slight annoy looks).

“Well, with Shadow gone now no thanks to Sonic, looks like I’ll be the one to destroy you instead, “Mr Tinker”.” said Ivory ominously at Mr Tinker as she turned and approach him only to stop when Scarlet swiftly got in between her and Mr Tinker. “Get-out-of-my-way, red hedgehog.” said Ivory warningly to Scarlet.

“No, I refused! I won’t let you destroy Mr Tinker, Ivory!” said Scarlet as she take out and pointed her sword at Ivory.

“Move!” snap Ivory warningly again at Scarlet.

“No!” snap Scarlet back at Ivory, both of them glaring at each other in silence until Rouge step in to smooth things over.

Meanwhile, with Sonic and Shadow………

“Having trouble getting past me? I thought you were fast, mister Ultimate Lifeform!” said Sonic teasingly to Shadow, which annoy him and make him run past Sonic only for Sonic to increase his speed and run past Shadow as they run out of the village, run past the forest and up the mountain.

“Look-I get it! Eggman has been a grade-A jerk for years!” said Sonic as he glance over his right shoulder at Shadow and quickly duck down to avoid Shadow spinning ball form while Shadow himself knock the trees down to make them fall on Sonic, who curl up into a ball and zoom out of the falling trees before they could crash down on him and he and Shadow uncurl from their ball forms.

“But he’s also done some good stuff too! Like remember the business on the ARK way back when? He helped us save the world of Mobius!” said Sonic, reminding Shadow about the ARK business only for Shadow to give him a cold look.

“Okay……… So, he kinda started that mess too. It’s not like he was aiming to destroy the world……… Hold on! I’m not done yet!” said Sonic before he noticed Shadow had already turned around and run off and Sonic swiftly run after him.

“Okay-What about when the Black Arms aliens invaded Mobius? Remember all that? Eggman help and fought the alien invasion with us! Without him helping us, we may not have lasted long enough to save the day and the world!” said Sonic as he caught up to Shadow, which make Shadow look thoughtful for a few seconds before Sonic’s foot got caught in a tree root on the ground and make him trip and crash against a tree before Shadow swiftly grab and pinned Sonic against the tree with his arm.

“Gah!” gasp Sonic with a pained look on his face.

“Have you forgotten that he made you suffer immensely? That he’s tried to hurt and destroy you-multiple times? How can you even suggest leniency and mercy for him after all he did to you and to others on Mobius?” growled Shadow threateningly at Sonic.

“Heh, you tried to hurt and destroy me in the past too, remember?” said Sonic as he smirk coldly at Shadow (who fell silent and look away in slight guilt). “You even tried to obliterate Mobius world. So-What? You want me to take you out with Eggman too? After all, if he can’t be forgiven, can you, Shadow?” added Sonic calmly to Shadow, which make him look more guilty before he let go and step back from Sonic.
