When I was in Finland, I had the privilege of spending a night in Röskö, the camp where Nightwish recorded their last two albums. (I actually wrote about the experience here: amaranthmb.deviantart.com/jour… )

Well, my friend Bruna asked me to draw it.

Hooooooo boy. I decided right away that I didn't want to try and draw us as we actually were: standing around the fire and singing. One, because I had no pictures to work from and two, that would probably be kind of boring to look at. But there was a moment when Veronique danced in the rain and I thought...in our hearts, isn't that what we all were doing? If I could just capture a tiny bit of that magic...

This is the first time I've used white charcoal on black paper and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. The stark light effects you can create are really something.
