Thank you everyone who came to watch the recent livestream <3 This night I'm likely to stream again, but that's not set in stone. It's going to depend on my condition, because currently I can't think about anything but normal sleep.

However, have the result of the latest stream! And it's the last commission for MadDogVII , which shows us their characters Johann and Bashir from the project "Dogs of the Wasteland".
These guys live in an apocalyptic/dystopian kind of world, always running and fighting to stay alive, and so being careful and able to give a quick reaction when needed. But every now and then they find a quiet, calm moment... during which at least one of them still doesn't manage to calm down and so he stays overly careful, kek.

Let's say, despite his size and appearance Bash is irrationally paranoid. Even in this illustration of the guys having a halt he is hearing something very suspicious in his opinion. However, due to Johann's sceptical expression it's rather easy to guess his attitude to Bash's worries.
Well, let's wish the guys to have a deserved rest before they have to go again. AND LET'S WISH ME THE SAME BECAUSE I'M GONNA HAVE SOME SLEEP RIGHT NOW!

Have a nice day~

A definitely nice piece to look at. The setting of a desert usually should be calmer, so naturally if there are noises, you better be careful. In that regard, one would wonder what is going on and what anarchist raiders they will eventually encounter (or spot from a safe distance). It is not a nice life, quite frankly, if you think about the constant danger and the lack of a security as there is no police nor military to maintain order, as order itself is gone. Certainly a world for great stories, but a world we probably are glad to experience as readers and viewers rather than inhabitants.
And I certainly like the nice blue shade that is overall used for the nightly scene, while you utilize the brown very well for the wood and mug to be distinct from the background and characters. A little neat hing about it really, it all feels quite coherent. Plus, i like how you drew the both here, one rather bulky and the other more lean. Of course, that would be Maddog's designs, but you did execute them well.

I like this. I love dystopian stories and this gets it awesomely. I am reminded of a scene in the Mad Max Fury Road comic. Great job.

I'm actually somewhat glad that I had to go to bed before it was completely done, so this way I still had a bit of a surprise as to how the final result would look :'D
I'm completely amazed at the final piece!

You caught both characters and their reactions perfectly, and physically they're easy to tell as themselves despite the piece being mostly monochrome. The background might be fairly simple but id adds a lot to the picture too, love that way you have of doing night skies, and the log and the mug having a different tone between all that blue and gray is a nice extra touch.
Overall, thank you very much once again

Should I contact you via note to sort out the missing details btw? :>

You're very welcome! The list of my favorite characters of yours have become a little longer now, I guess :'D Plus the idea of a dystopian world is something I really like. It causes me to feel some kind of a nostalgia for one animated series that I used to watch when being a kid, "The Highlander". Damn, I really want to watch it again now xp Always loved the music there.

I'm going to note you myself soon! c: Possibly tonight if I manage to send the letter the nearest couple hours (which is possible because the post office is placed very close to where I live, and I'm going to have a walk anyway), or tomorrow the first half of the day. Then I'll have an opportunity to name the price for everything together with the shipping ^^

Dystopian and apocalyptic worlds will forever be one of my favorite settings ahh, they just allow you to do so many different things.

And woops! You got to that before I even replied so damn, sorting things out in just a sec <:

Do you know the comic SOLO drawn by Oscar Martin? It's about a dystopian world too, and the main character is a mouse, big and muscular. I dream about having this comic on my shelf, as it's drawn so wonderfully I can't stop staring at every single frame that I see on the artist's Instagram.
But seems like it's a rather new thing that they are only starting to translate into English (from Italian, it seems). I believe this means that it won't appear in my country very soon ;___;

MadDogVII In reply to Amaryllex [2017-07-07 19:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Shit you not that's another of my main inspirations with this whole setting (especially because there are cannibals and I believe I got that from SOLO, where if I remember correctly it's kind of "eat or be eaten?") I guess I either came across a Spanish translation someone lend me or I read a "fan made one" but I remember having read them... a really long while ago. I can faintly remember bits and pieces but not the whole thing, so now that you've mentioned it I might have to get my hands on an original copy and re-read it :'0

I feel ya, bro This thing is absolutely amazing, and if it isn't a new or rare thing this is good news to me I have more chances to find it one day xDD

I went to check the comics and some stuff and WOPS Oscar Martin was born in Barcelona so I guess that explains why it was available so quickly in Spain (tough publishing stuff here is extremely hard so I take that he either did it in France originally as it's where Spanish authors go for publishing usually). I really hope they keep making translations of it to other languages and it spreads a little because I've got quite fond memories of those comics myself :'D

Aaah, right, I forgot this! Yeah, he made some posts about releases in France, so what you say makes perfect sense (and it means that the frames I saw were in French, heh xP)

Poor guys. Can't catch a break in that dystopia.

I like how you did the starry night and hills in the background.
The big one looks so worried, i'm almost sorry for him. Also, nice boots they got.
