Great Scott, I did it! I really did it! (Now let's hope that I'll do another picture in two days, and then I'll let myself breathe free).
Being honest, I expected this composition to be a lot easier to work on, but it turned out that I overestimated myself. It wasn't easy at all actually, and I spoiled the original and 5 copies in general, haha, before I did this one.
I must say that I'm satisfied with the result now, despite that I believe that the shadow on the right wall should look a bit (not a bit) different. But I had to do it intuitively because I didn't find any refs that would help me understand how shadow behaves in case of such light source and such surroundings. I tried to use my wooden dummy and a candle in hope it would show me what I needed, but it made the situation clear only partly. Well, at least I honestly did my best and I wouldn't be able to do it better with my current knowledge. For this reason I really have every right to be pleased with the result, and plus now I know one more subject that I should pay attention to, which really is good. Don't you know that Lex is a masochist who constantly tries topics she never fully understands, and always says in the end that she's ok and that's an experience, lol?

But let's talk about what's shown here. This scene was commissioned by my good friend AudeS , and it shows us his character Yishai who has a role of the Guide of Fate. This guy is very interesting, I must say! I especially love the fact that he doesn't have one particular shape but can choose any by himself. In this picture he's shown as a human. A while back another artist, Colonel-Motivation , drew him being a fox. Hopefully no one is going to be offended if I show this picture, as it's truly beautiful and despite that it has no complicated background it has a very special atmosphere that I absolutely love:   Exactly this piece gave me the idea that I eventually tried to depict.

Yishai meets us in a dark tunnel that is supposed to symbolize a rough patch in our life, when we feel lost and don't know what to do. He shows us the way and with his gesture invites us to follow him. Who knows what is going to await us there. Maybe things are going to become better. Maybe for the first time in out life we are going to feel ourselves an important part of this world. Maybe we are going to understand who we are. Or leave this world silently because it is time.
Fate is a strange thing. You never know what exactly your fate is. You can believe in one thing for your whole life, but in the end it may happen that you've been mistaken this whole time, as the truth never fully opens to you until it's the end of your way.

That's what I was thinking when working on this picture. I got a question what my fate was, actually, but that's another story for another time, heh.

Hope you like the result, my friend

Really nice, you deserve to be pleased with your final result as this looks excellent for AudeS , especially since you tried a wooden dummy and candlelight to help out with this drawing as the lighting in the background and Yishai's shadow are great. It does capture Yishai as the one who will lead us to our mysterious fate and his human form looks neat. It's also nice that you showed Colonel-Motivation 's work here as well.

A great rendition of Yishai! He looks just as serious in human form
Thank you for the nice words on my drawing. I don't mind it being shown as it is one of my best. I'm glad it could inspire someone!
Your drawings have that soft touch of pencils that I love about traditional art. It is a really nice piece for AudeS I can see why he would choose you for a commission more than once. Your art is truly great
Fate is a strange thing indeed. I personally believe we make our own way in the world and that is exactly how we shape fate. It's nice to have a guiding deity tho, another thing that could exist to take us on our ways. The best part of anyone's fate is when it tangles with someone else's, be it a friend, a lover or even a rival. It all makes life that much more interesting and better. What's the point of a dull existence?

Very nice job on 's character. I like the dark atmosphere to this.  And is also a great guy with cool characters. It's nice you've done commissions for them.  You drew him well. I like the hair eyes and coat.

*chuckles* In the darkest moments of one's life, when one fails to know what lies ahead and what they should do, a solemn voice might whisper into their ears, leading their way back. I think this is neatly presented here with the darkened tunnel and Yishai appearing in the middle, holding a light in hand and holding out the other hand for the one looking at him, as to offer guidance admist uncertainty. I suppose that this theme kind of fits the art process itself as it was a challenge, and certainly one with a victory following. I find the final result to be a perfect composition of light and dark, which is excellently worked into the theme as well.
I also like how you were able to make the transition from the shape he takes in FR, and the one he would use within a world inhabited by humans. Not a man of muscles, but of mystery and mind, born from an indominable will. Yishai looks perfect the way he is shown here. And the androgynous face does perfectly work for him as the one between Danica and Asbjörn, who are more femine or masculine respectively.

Of course, I should say that the Fate part is mostly attributed by mortals, who follow a more deterministic view on the world. In truth however, what Yishai does is to show options that one may take by their own free will, taking fate in their own hand. The philosophy certainly is also found in your description here.

That! That thing about how the art process fits the idea, yeah, I believe that it became the reason why I didn't want to change the option despite the difficulties. I saw that connection too and didn't want to believe that my fate was to leave it unfinished xDD
So glad you like it. And I'm very glad that you have asked me to give him exactly a human form! Humans should appear in my gallery more often, in fact. It's currently more comfortable to draw anthros to me, but only because I draw mostly them and so I have a certain recognizable style of drawing them, already. For humans I don't have enough practice, and so each time I have a chance to draw them I'm happy. I don't want to forget how to draw other things besides anthros, haha

Hehe, I did think of exactly that, as you mentioned that
you rarely get humans as commissions, and certainly,
you did not have any rust with them, as he looks perfect.

I freaking love how you drew the whole composition. The way you blended together all dark colours and the lighting makes the overall commission wonderful plus i love the look you gave to Yishai *_*
How did you make the shadow? I can't even image how many black you used in this work. Demanding but satisfying! Great job

Thank you so much!
I used 9B graphite pencil here^^ It's very, veeeery soft and can easily make the sheet so dirty that you won't manage to remove the dirt completely, and you will of course have dirty hands, ahaha. But when black pencil doesn't work 9B graphite is irreplaceable to me. It's just necessary to remember that you should be careful with it, as any touch of any part of your hand may smear the colour all over the sheet, and that rarely looks good

9B graphite pencil always helps me when I need to reach the shade that would be "blacker than the blackest black" xDDD

Thankfully the definition of fate present applies more to "taking fate in one's own hands". I myself am not a determinist at all, so I probably should confirm the deterministic definition of fate to be false for my work.
