How come people still use sailing ships in this universe?

In the real world, as I understand it, windjammers remained competitive as cargo haulers until the 1950s, when container ships first appeared, so it’s quite plausible to see large sailing ships still in service even as steam power becomes more and more common. I’m sure Amarynceus will correct me on any erroneous details.

A little detail I caught on this piece that mad eme thing is the sail ship in the back there, alone, isolated, confined to the surface of the water unlike these two airships here. I wonder, what does sea captains think of these air ships, is there animosity? Sadness? or perhaps they feel bad for the crews of the air ships, in constant danger? I dunno... it juts go me thinking.
