I haven't painted in like, a whole year, so I wasn't expecting much of this. It looked positively awful until I turned on one effect and then ka-BLAM it was fine. I love the no lineart I did for Ama's hair and basically everything about how she turned out. Hopefully I'll be as lucky in the future. If I do more painted projects they will be as reference art or concepts for the other book I keep promising I'll work on but never do anything for.This wasn't intended to be a vent piece nor something fun so it's a mix between both. I guess if I need to go all english teacher and look for some deeper meaning it would be trying to cope with a disorder I hate but also love? And Ama has to be there because queen bee has to be in every picture. Also her hair is never consistent so YIPPIE KI YAY.
Do you like this painted style? Are there any new styles you'd like to see me take on? (Besides realism. I can't do realism haha)

You did such a good job capturing the stressed, love-hate thing abt MDD mood in this painting. Also Ama's expression is perfect in here. Her sinister grin and the puppet like shadow clearly shows her controlling personality. Finally, I love the style that this picture is in! I am a sucker for painterly styles so I would definitely not mind seeing more pieces in this style.

I'm glad to hear it! It was a delicate balance to keep, which was why I ended up including that puppet in there. I wanted to show both positivity and negativity all in one picture.
Ama was definitely the part I worked the most on so I'm happy to hear I managed to nail her more sinister side. I didn't want to do the stereotypical villain smile/laugh/pose, so I tried to settle for a simple smile with intense shading. I'm SO happy to see you picked up on it and liked it.
A lot of my painting inspiration comes from you if I can be completely honest. I want to break away from my lineart-y style and try to be a bit more free. Never am I more inspired or motivated to paint than when I see your works, so it's all thanks to you that I'm beginning to practice this in the first place!
