Perfect shot! The butterfly has a funny face too, like she's saying: Hey, who are you?

Thanks a lot! I have actually been collecting some of the eggs and raising them. It's nice to release them in the backyard and see them hanging out. I tried letting them go on the plants and let nature take its course, but the wasps ate at least 20 of my Gulf Fritillary caterpillars in no time at all.

Thats such a nice idee!! Shame the wasps find em yummy. I wonder it butterfly that "hatch" in your garden stay there?? Or do they then fly away?

They actually tend to hang around unless they are in need of a mate or a host plant to lay their eggs on. I have planted many host plants in an attempt to keep them around. But even if they make it to butterfly there are predators waiting for them. I had a very large dragonfly one day eating some. I got some shots, not terrific shots . Then this week I saw a lizard eating a dragonfly, the circle of life.......

Yeah nature can be quite cruel. But I find it amazing that you actually take your time to help out the little creatures! You deserve a for that. Keep up the good work.
