A moment from "Beaned."I know that in the episode Helga is faking amnesia and Arnold is less than thrilled about all the time they're spending together, but after changing Arnold's expression to be a bit happier, this drawing took on a whole new meaning for me.
It made me think of all the little moments (both ones that I remember and all the ones I have undoubtedly forgotten) that I've shared with my boyfriend.
All of the playful shoves and pokes that at the time seemed so insignificant, are the things I cherish the most. That tiny stretch of time between one major life event to the next is so beautiful and often overlooked.
This drawing, to me, is one of those moments for Helga and Arnold.
I don't know if that will come across to anyone else, but that's the mindset that I have with it.
In other news, I hope to colour this in tonight. I would LOVE to do it right now, but alas, I must leave for work. Woe is most definitely me.
(Also please don't hate me for the background, I'm still figuring this whole "perspective" crap out. AND I didn't have a ruler. I had to use stretcher strips for some of my edges. So be gentle?)

I watched the episode on youtube, paused around this scene, sketched it out (not traced or anything) and then I changed a bit of the expressions to make it a happy and cute experience rather than an annoying one for Arnold.

Yeah, if only he didn't have to worry about her stepping in front of a car every 2 seconds, maybe he would've eventually enjoyed some of it too.

I always thought the hardest thing she did was slam her head against the water fountain. I don't think I could EVER do that to myself on purpose.

Yes, I thought that, too. However, I know cartoons give people the impression that banging the head again can cure the amnesia, but it won't and it very likely could make the amnesia worse.
But yeah, she's more than me, too.
