The secret to this shading is use 6B or 8B or 4B pencil (each will do) and decide first how much of the area would be shaded, then lightly stroke them for shading without any break.
You can also use your finger tips and rub them lightly on the shading to make it smoother and later erase the extra ink

And to answer your question, nothing special, for smoother shading on the body or clothes, I just use the finger-tip and lightly smudge it and later I erase the unnecessary smudges and for the shading on the face, I just use the 4B pencil a bit lightly so that it looks smooth
