Harlene has a kind yet stern personality, and was designed to act as a security guard that enforces the rules of Freddy's Pizzaplex to ensure that children do not get themselves hurt or wander into areas that they shouldn't. She has access to police databases similarly to the much older "toy" generation of animatronics and can use her improved facial recognition to flag down criminals that enter the Pizzaplex and call the police so they can be removed. It is against her code to physically touch humans under any circumstance (so the company can avoid lawsuits) and so she must get creative in order to solve certain situations or simply call for human backup when necessary. Harlene was banned from performing her services during open hours after the Pizzaplex received too many complaints about her scaring children by enforcing the rules to extreme lengths and her design just appearing generally "threatening" to some. Currently Harlene is only "on shift" after the Pizzaplex closes. She can often be heard crying in empty rooms, missing the days she spent with the children she loved dearly and only wanted to keep safe. Harlene is unable to physically harm Gregory due to her solid programming, but seeing Gregory results in a loud verbal response to his presence as she cannot help but fuss over him. This unfortunately draws a lot of unwanted attention from the other animatronics and so Gregory must do his best to avoid her despite her sweet nature. If Harlene sees Gregory enter Freddy she will violently attack Freddy in an attempt to "save" Gregory, which can result in both characters' deaths if Freddy does not escape her in time. Harlene attempts to lure Gregory out of hiding by aimlessly wandering the Pizzaplex, talking sweetly and promising to protect him. She and Freddy do not get along much due to Freddy viewing her as "anti-fun" and Harlene seeing Freddy as an overly lax "rule-breaker". She also hates Monty with a passion for obvious reasons. Harlene does at least get along fine with Chica and Roxanne, and was close with Bonnie before his death, even blaming herself for his destruction since she was not vigilant enough to keep him safe. Harelene's glasses grant her security access to most of the staff-only areas within the Pizzaplex, glasses which can be removed surprisingly easily and would be very useful for Gregory. Why doesn't she just call the police after witnessing a child in the place after hours? Because uh. Plot?
