Description Everyone I knew was so appalled by Capital fashion when the "Hunger Games" movies came out, but it made perfect sense to me. We're already starting to see traces of it in today's society...

[This is a side-by-side comparison of modern pop phenomenons and Effie Trinket.]

The sad thing about this is that Effie Trinket is actually less trashy and more sophisticated than the 3 others.

Flamboyant statement fashion isn't anything new. I mean, runway looks that are mostly just for the show? Bjork's swan dress, anyone? The main difference is that Capitol citizens, at least the more elite ones anyway, do it up on a more regular basis. And Effie/Elizabeth sure is workin all that Alexander Mcqueen in CF.

I know it's not necessarily new, but it is getting more popular. Already I'm starting to see people with brightly-dyed hair on nearly a daily basis, which didn't happen even two or three years ago. If the trend continues, I think our culture may start to drift away from simplicity and 'au natural' in favor of rococo.

"brightly-dyed hair"? I'm pretty sure people have been doing that since at least the 70s.

I feel like I've seen more of it recently, though. Maybe it's just me, I dunno.

Aaawe now, I don't follow pop culture so I don' tknow what these are about, but the last one is really well designed. Colors are beautiful. It's a lot more classier from the looks of it, compared to the other circus acts.

The last one is Effie Trinket from "Hunger Games." It's basically just a side-by-side comparison.
