I don't usually post my spiritual art to my DA which is why it has been so dreadfully sparse lately. (eep)But I'm really proud of this one so I figured i'd post it. It's helped me work through a lot of tough stuff going on with me right now. For the grass/moss, I used a long-distant pic from Corbis of a field, and clone-brushed it plus burn/dodge.
I used a bit of a photo-ref for her but I altered it significantly in emotion and facial structure. Also a pic from corbis (a couple pages in under search-string "profile" as of this posting)
As you can see I have improved much, I just don't post a lot anymore.
I don't want to clarify the prayer in the back there because it's very personal so...

I love the colour theme; it's so bright and soft and fresh. Also, the woman's expression is gorgeous.

wow, this is really stunning ~ just looking at it really makes me feel peaceful, but at the same time, thoughtful... a "compromised peace"?
oh, and no offense (plz smack me if this offends X__X), but i think the ear looks a little strange, but again, the picture in and in of itself is absolutely glorious ~

Haha well, part of it is, DeviantArt is inhabited largely by the younger crowd. Even the exceptional artists are very young...surprisingly so. But with youth comes a lesson to learn in humility, and the fact that yes, it IS your art, but if your audience views your art completely differently than you intended...well, maybe you should change a few things here or there.
Depends, I suppose, on the intention behind the art but...
Anyways, I was extremely sensitive when I was younger (though I'm still pretty young now at 19, imo) but in the interests of improving I have gotten over that pretty quick.
We all need to spazz sometimes.

*wipes away anticipation of another angry artist* thank you receiving constructive criticism the way its supposed to be received. i always want to make pointers here and there on a picture now and then, at the risk of those over-sensitive people out there who start screaming that it's their art and i have no right to diss them... even tho that was never the intention in the first place ~ sorry, spammed ur page, but i needed to spaz
