Description
Torn between one life and another,
I stand at the crossroads,
Clueless,
Looking down each path,
In front of me the path to my lover,
There she stands in the distance,
Smiling and waving for me to come,
The path to her looks smooth,
With a few bumps,
She tells me she will patiently await me,
And sits in the garden sipping tea,
Awaiting my arrival,
I turn and look from where I just came,
There a part of my heart lies,
A part so hard to leave behind,
But also bitter reminders,
Of past moments that one longs to forget,
The road back seems so lonely,
I again look ahead,
And sigh,
The path to my right is dark,
Uncertainty looms there,
And no one waits for me at the end,
To the left is perfection,
The utopian land where no decisions need to be made,
I fight the urge to run down that path,
Knowing it’s just an illusion,
So here I stand,
Unable to move,
Each path scares me,
And leads to different ends,
People come and stop as I have while I am standing,
And after a few proceed on their way,
Why can’t I,
Why must I be so conflicted,
And not know which way my heart wants to take me,
I sigh despondently,
An inviting tree stands on the corner,
Initials carved of those who stood here as I have,
I lean my back to the tree and slowly slide down,
Sitting at its solid base,
Here I will sleep,
And pray tomorrow I will find my answer,
As my weary eyes softly close,
And my trouble forgotten until morning.
