Description
This was the final project in my Illustration class. The assignment was to illustrate a fairy tale or story within the public domain. I've always loved the story of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, so I did some research and found out the story was in fact copyright free.

We had done some scratchboard exercises earlier in the semester, and I found that I really enjoyed working in that medium. Unfortunately, when it came time to do this final project, scratchboard paper was nowhere to be found. I'd heard that Corel Painter X had a lot of good traditional media settings, so I loaded it up and sure enough, the scratchboard pen tool did exactly what I was looking for.
