TNG????? Sigh. That show was so very flawed. It's too bad the characters were cardboard thin (2 dimensional), and Roddenberry was so very naive about human nature. Picard wasn't even human, the man had no flaws.

I would not call myself a snob. I just didn't think it was as good as the original series, animated series, and 6 movies. Gene assumed that human behavior would somehow achieve utopia, and as a student of psychology I know that will never happen unless the entire species is altered from the ground up. Gene expressly forbade that.

And the theory of relativity forbids ftl travel, so if that's possible in the purely fictional Trek universe ill say human beings acting decent is as well. Besides Picard is Soo much hotter than Kirk lmao.

My concern is not with the technical details, it's with the portrayal of humanity, behavior and personality being totally unrealistic and generally two dimensional, the characters in STNG didn't develop over time, and were only defined by a single characteristic.
Hotter? Picard wasn't exactly human. He had no flaws, no real personality. He was a nearly asexual Captain, and that was it. Sigh. Even the crew was forbidden to have any personal conflicts with each other, or even themselves.

That's perfectly okay. There is no accounting for taste, as the saying goes.
