Description Yeah, might as well upload this one; it's been sitting in Sta.sh for far too long and I'm not going to finish it at this rate. Names and borders are very much WIP in places...and that's another problem, now that I type this; this file's been wasting away for so long I can't find the link to the DA page for the guy who drew the original map! I know he was fine with the idea of me using this, but still...if someone can find it, lemme know and I'll amend the description.

Anyway, this was an attempt to sort out the borders of a number of states in North America as they appear in 's Dragons Unite universe...Labrador and Newfoundland got extended and given a neater border, what had originally been an independent New England got revamped into an 'Acadia' state based on several maps showing low population areas and historic colony borders, a few new states within the USA got created (although even then we keep flipflopping on them) and most notably of all, what was originally dubbed the United States of Alaska got reworked into the Federal Republic of Norland (whose flag has been uploaded already;  ). The idea here was Ice Dragons spread out from Scandinavia and colonised the Arctic Circle ( ), thus the coastal areas have the more 'colonial' sounding names while the more inland areas have native names instead. There was also the idea that a few names would have changed over time (for instance, the 'New Burben/Jarnhud' thing was kinda inspired by Spain's incredibly lazy colonial names back when they were first colonising South America, with the alternative names being derived from some historic figure who the area was renamed after a few centuries later), but it's hard to tell at this point of the draft whether all the colonial names would have been replaced, whether some would remain, or whether there'd be a 50/50 thing going on where both names are used and the place is multicultural. I suspect the latter, but we'll need to finalise names for each regions before we can pull that off...

In any case, if you've got an idea for a place name or something, lemme know! I could use some inspiration to finish this off...
TBH I still kind of prefer the older draft where Alaska was still part of the United States but the state was merely a crescent curving along the south coast of Norland...

EDIT: Well, while I'm here, I might as well elaborate on the meaning behind the weird colonial names...Nova Wallia is the only historically accurate one; the name was briefly used to refer to the region by a naval captain who landed in the area, and given the importance of Wales to dragons in the series, it seemed like a name that would have stuck. The other three were all named for major subdivisions of the fictional Kingdom of Sekeolath; Hornholm (corresponding with Northern Norway), Burben (corresponding with Northern Finland) and Jarnhud (corresponding with the Kola Peninsula)...only the first of these remaining over time as the region was directly named for a resemblance to Hornholm's islands, while the other two were just lazy copy-pasting. Iseteland and Fayveeria are both named for members of the royal family of Sekeolath...Isete has been the name of two particularly famous Queens (the first actually founded the state, the second ruled during their Golden Age), and Fayveer was kind of a draconic equivalent of Prince Henry the Navigator of Portugal; he went off on several expeditions and helped map the Arctic Circle, and so a chunk of land was named after him (along with a fighting move used in the TLOS games, since that's where the name originated from). The idea is that he died during his last expedition across the North Pole and became a figure of legend, and when 'Christmas' traditions began mingling with the 'Majakir' traditions of dragons in certain areas around the globe, a popular children's story developed stating that Fayveer hadn't actually died, but had gone to the North Pole to help Santa deliver goods around the world...who better to help the old man and his reindeer navigate the treacherous Arctic than the dragon who mapped it?
