Dragonfly No 11
Completed March 25, 2014

This is a one of a kind, handmade clockwork Dragonfly made from the recycled parts of old watches.

His wings are made from antique copper colored watch faces that have been cut, sanded, and curved into wing shapes, along with a balance wheel and gear for both structure and embellishment.

His legs were created with many different watch winding stems that have been cut into various sizes and soldered at the leg joints using silver bearing solder.

His body is a watch plate soldered to a strap string at the thorax.

His head is a cut, sanded and shaped watch dial to which is soldered two identical winding stem knobs for eyes.

He alights on a model railroad track base that has been curved and soldered and that acts as a stand.

There is no glue or resin to be found in the piece...everything is soldered into place with metal. This is a one of a kind work of art, never to be exactly reproduced.

Dimensions: 57mm wide by 62mm tall (bottom of base to eyeball height) by 55mm (base front to back). He comes with a 3" by 4" glass dome with walnut base for display. He is extremely fragile and should be handled sparingly and very gently, and is most definitely not a toy.
