I see so much hype and nonsense being disseminated on the topic of so-called altporn sites and which ones are popular and suchlike. I've been working on Blue Blood since 1992, but I only had to start biting my tongue around 2001. After reading a couple shockingly inaccurate ranking charts recently, I finally just had to share some of my knowledge and wrote "Understanding the AltPorn Popularity Contests " for BlueBlood.net (SFW).

If you are interested in altmodeling or erotic art in general, who the current players are in 2009, or how and when web traffic popularity matters, I hope you find the feature of interest. Article is safe for work.

PS Because I feel artistry and lifestyle matter, I prefer the term counterculture erotica, but I understand that sometimes someone can want to call a genre speculative fiction, and people will go right on referring to it as sci-fi, and it is still the same genre by another name. No doubt some of the sites in this genre contain art and some . . . less so, but they are still related in a way.
