During her mission to Mortis, Ahsoka’s life was saved when the Daughter transferred her lifeforce to her. In doing so, the Daughter also transfers her Living Force energy to Ahsoka which ended up enhancing her Force powers and increasing her Force potential exponentially to the point where it almost rivals Anakin’s. Her increased strength in the Force becomes apparent to Anakin and the Jedi Council. The council resolves to monitor her training more closely, but they decide to keep this a secret out of fear that Ahsoka would become a target for the Sith. However, Palpatine is able to sense this incredible power inside Ahsoka and becomes curious how this mere padawan obtained it so he keeps a closer eye on her going forward.

As the tide of the war turns against him and the Republic, Palpatine seeks to turn Ahsoka to the Dark Side and bring her power into his arsenal. However, in order to turn her, he would need to separate her from the Jedi Order which is now keeping a close eye on her due to her new abilities. While gaining information on Ahsoka that he could use against her, Palpatine would learn about her friendship with Barriss Offee, who was drifting to the Dark Side due to her disillusionment with the Jedi's role in the war as well as the death of her master Luminara during the Second Battle of Geonosis. Palpatine, under his persona of Sidious, secretly approaches Barriss and convinces her to bomb the Jedi temple in order to make the Jedi pay for what they've become. Sidious would also convince Barriss to put the blame for the attack on Ahsoka. While Barriss would be reluctant to frame her friend after everything they've been through, Sidious would tell her that she has a special power inside of her which is why she is becoming more powerful so quickly and that the Jedi would only want to use Ahsoka as a weapon. Sidious manages to convince Barriss that she would be doing Ahsoka a favor by severing her from the Jedi.

Following Ahsoka's expulsion from the Jedi Order and her exoneration, she goes on to leave the Order to find her own path. With Ahsoka finally cutoff from the Jedi, she is now vulnerable to Sidious' influence. The Sith lord hired a group of mercenaries to capture the former padawan and bring her before Sidious at the Works. Ahoska trembled in fear while in the presence of this being of pure darkness. He would try to use the Jedi Council's betrayal to get Ahsoka to turn to the Dark Side. Despite standing in the face of such evil, Ahsoka refused to give in. Seeing that she would not turn so easily, Sidious resorts to imprisoning Ahsoka in the Works and torturing her in an attempt to break her spirit. For days, Ahsoka endured such excruciating pain at the hands of Sidious. Despite the pain she suffered, Ahsoka refused to give into the darkness while Sidious relished in pushing the young Torgruta to the brink.
