Tumblr post: rhearenee-magane.tumblr.com/poβ¦My entry for Fairy-Tail-FC Β Fairy Fest week one solo entry. The theme was summer, so I went with beach ice cream party because I love ice cream and summer is all about the ice cream and gathering of friends. This year I'm on team Crooning Siren.
My choice of characters was really random here, so some things might not make sense (like Gray having the balls to glare at Erza and Juvia simply observing him calmly while Lucy is right next to him) idk, I just wanted this to be more of a relaxed scene, but the array of emotions in this is a chaos.
Anyway I had fun doing this. I'm far from perfect with backgrounds and the anatomy, but I still tried and it was great practice. I knew that I wouldn't regret joining the Fairy Fest this year as well, since it's making me draw more complicated things and finish up old forgotten sketches. And thanks to YunaKozue for helping me with the hair.
Also as a little secret I can tell you guys that I have an another Fairy Tail piece in the making, with (as my friend described) a cute scene and a serene atmosphere.

Is it just me, or is Lucy the only one happy in this picture..?

No it isn't just you, no one in this picture is really happy like that. Levy and Laxus are just content. Natsu is Natsu and is stuffing his face. Juvia is observing Gray and Lucy. Gajeel is just being his grumpy self. Lucy is trying to dismiss Gray's attitude to Erza and Gray is annoyed 'cause Erza asked him to refill the ice coolers.
I think that there really comes a time when you just get tired from drawing all those pretty pictures with everyone equally happy and with the same expression. Like everyone in my picture is more or less happy it's just not immediately visible 'cause of interaction with others that bring out other emotions or there really being no reason to smile like a goof all the time.

Because for a change I wanted to draw Gray in the foreground and Natsu in the background. The placement of other characters, except for Erza, were random. I could have as easily put Lisanna in Lucy's place or Wendy. And thanks
