"Silvy, take me out for icecream!" Kotone walked over, her hands behind her back coyly.

"Wait, w-what?!" Silver stuttered.

"Well, you lost the battle! You'd be a lousy rival if you don't atleast treat me to something." Kotone put her hands on her hip.

...Rival.

Silver's breath hitched. Why did he hesitate? What was he thinking? If Kotone wasn't his rival then what was she to him? A friend? Something more than...

Silver immediately shook his head. "Hell no!" He thought out loud.

Silver was too immersed in his thoughts to notice Kotone slowly moving towards him. She was only a few inches away from him when she said, "Huh?! Man, stop being such a jerk! I want icecream!" and crossed her arms.

Silver froze.

"N-no, I didn't mean... I- fuck, I wasn't... I was just-!" He stammered, heat rushing to his cheeks. He was now painfully aware of her breaths, her long lashes, subtle rosy cheeks, full pink lips, chocolatey scent-

Silver stumbled a few steps back.

"Silver!~ What are you doing?" Kotone peeked over Silver's shoulder.

Silver jumped, almost dropping the tiny red box in his hand. He caught it in the nick of time. He took deep breaths, then turned to his rival. "WHAT. THE FUCK. IS YOUR DEAL." He gritted his teeth.

"Who's that for?" She ignored him shamelessly, pointing to the box.

You, dimwit. Who else would I give it to?! He thought.

Silver was just about to open his mouth when, "Red is a really romantic colour... your girlfriend?" Kotone tilted her head.

Silver's words momentarily got stuck in his throat. His cheeks burned, and he was suddenly clutching the box tightly and immensely interested in the ground. "N-no..." He muttered.

Kotone's eyes narrowed quizzically. "Your... boyfriend?"

Silver's head shot straight up. "NO!"

"Sorry!" Kotone raised her hands up defensively. "Someone you like? A crush, maybe?" She prodded further.

Silver went back to looking at the ground. "I- I don't like... I don't know, no, I don't like... argh! HERE." Silver shoved the box into Kotone's arms.

Kotone stepped back, very confused. "Wha?"

"FOR YOU, DAMMIT." Silver said, red to his ears. He then, swiftly turned around, and stomped away.

Kotone watched as the redhead moved away, then stared at the box. She looked up and yelled: "Thank you!"

Her only response was Silver yelling profanities.

Silver held Kotone's hand in his own. She hummed happily, oblivious to Silver's whole inner turmoil. He couldn't face her the entire time, his face as scarlet as his hair. He was the one who suggested this... okay, more like yelled it, to her. It was very crowded in Goldenrod that night, and she was always behind him getting lost in the sea of people.

"Take my hand, woman!"

His words hung over him like dread. He cursed under his breath, walking along. That is, until someone stopped Kotone from behind.

"Oh my, Miss! What a handsome boyfriend you have. We have a special discount in our cafe for couples!" The lady commented, and handed Kotone a flier.

Kotone laughed. "Oh no, we're not-"

"S-She's not my girlfriend!" Silver said in abash. He frantically raised his hand, roughly pulling Kotone's hand as well. "S-She's my rival, see!" He screamed awkwardly. "I don't l-love her or anything. HAH! A weakling like her, that would be fucking dumb!" He said, an octave higher than his usual voice. Kotone and the woman blankly stared back at him. Kotone was dumbfounded, while the woman looked completely unconvinced.

And it was in times like these, that Silver had to question all of his life decisions.

Kotone's arms coiled around Silver's neck.

"What are you doing?"

She then placed a small, chaste kiss onto Silver's lips. Silver's face flamed. Kotone giggled and pressed another kiss onto his lips.

Silver was silenced shut. Kotone laughed again, and leaned in pressing a deeper kiss onto Silver, and opened her eyes to look into Silver's and slyly lick his bottom lip.

Silver forgot how to breathe and his heartbeat drummed in his ears.

"I love you." She said.

Still not breathing.

"Oh my Arceus, Silver, you're turning purple." Kotone chuckled.

Silver rested his head onto Kotone's shoulder and breathed in. His heart still raced and he was embarrassed beyond compare, but he wanted to stay like this for a little while. He wrapped his arms shyly around Kotone's petite waist, pulling her close.

"I love you too."
