Description Jun breathed in. His sweaty palms were balled into fists. He looked at himself in the mirror.

"Don't mess this up." He said.

He then turned and walked out the door of his room. He trotted down the stairs and walked past the living room. He ran a hand through his hair and took a sharp breath in. He walked to the door, and wearily placed his hand on the knob. He turned it.

He was greeted with half of Hikari's face, since the rest of it was concealed under her scarf. He noticed how snow fell gently outside, and his lawn was purely white. It was only four, but the sun had already begun to set and the sky basked in its fading glow. Hikari pulled down her scarf and smiled. The mix of oranges in the sky had complimented Hikari well and Jun noticed how her breath formed wisps of mist.

"Happy Birthday, Kari Kari." He smiled.

He had to stay calm and not get too active, like he usually does. He wouldn't run around giving trouble to Hikari today. It was her day, and he had to make it special. And it started with not shouting loudly when she was well within earshot.

Hikari laughed. "Thanks, Jun. Can I come in now? It's pretty cold."

Jun mentally kicked himself. 'You kept her waiting outside, you idiot!'

"Right, sorry! Come on in!" Jun chuckled awkwardly. Β "Right this way... The dining room..."

Jun turned to take the lead, but Hikari was already well infront. She placed her boots at the rack near the door and hung her coat and scarf at the back of the closet door. She had done this a million times before, it had become methodical. Hikari knew Jun's house like the back of her hand, it's her second home afterall. She had visited many times over the course of her life, since they both are childhood friends.

She walked into the dining room and let out a small gasp. Jun decorated the room well, there were balloons and streamers hung on the wall. There was a cone-shaped party hat at the middle of the dining table. Hikari laughed and placed it on her head.

"Looks good." She heard Jun say from behind her.

She turned and smiled. "How long did it take you to put the decor up? And how many times did you fall?"

"I was careful!" Jun raised his hands in defense.

Hikari looked unconvinced.

"Okay, I might've stumbled a couple times..." He admitted.

Hikari hummed in response, shaking her head as if she knew it all along.

"Have a seat, I'll go get the food." Jun pulled up a chair.

"W-wait... you cooked something?" Hikari said uneasily.

"Relax, Kari Kari. Mom did." Jun chuckled.

Hikari breathed out a sigh of relief as Jun went into the kitchen.

A few minutes later, the blond emerged holding up paper plates with fried chicken on it. "This is a party after all..." He said.

Hikari let out a laugh. "Oh Arceus..."

Jun then sat down and placed soda cans on the table.

"I can't believe your mom had to fry chicken for you, Jun..." Hikari teased.

"Would you rather I cook it or my mom?" Jun asked, raising his brow.

"TouchΓ©. " Hikari said.

They both started to eat and talk, and Hikari was surprised how at how steady Jun seemed. The boy wasn't hyperactive at all, and she guessed he was trying his best for her. Hikari smiled at the thought as Jun talked.

"I did bake the cake though! Making batter seemed easily enough." Jun said.

'Uh-oh. This can't be good.' Hikari thought.

Jun peeked at his watch. "I think I can pull it out of the oven now. I'll go check on it." Jun got up and clattering of his chair almost sounded a little ominous.

He was out of sight almost immediately, and Hikari heard the creaking of the kitchen door. It was only when Hikari heard the large BOOM! come from the kitchen that she finally accepted that letting Jun cook anything was a cardinal sin.

She got up and ran towards the kitchen, only to see Jun and the entire kitchen covered in chocolate batter. Jun looked like the most disappointed human being alive while batter dripped from his hair.

Despite her hating the messes he makes, she felt sorry for her childhood friend. She walked over to him and swiped some batter from his cheek and tasted it.

Delicious.

Hikari looked Jun sincerely in the eye. He had gone through all of this trouble for her.

She giggled and patted his cheek. She leaned in and kissed him, and smiled lovingly once she pulled away.

"Thanks, Jun."
