Technically this is a Hispano HA-1112-M1L Buchon rather than a Messerchmitt BF-109. It is basically a post war built BF-109 with a rolls royce Merlin engine installed instead of the German Daimler Benz engine. That's just me being an aeroplane geek though so you can ignore me if you want to.

As I said, just me being a plane geek so don't worry about it. The aircraft is the closest thing to a real BF-109 flying in the UK anyway so it's fine to see it as one. A German marked aircraft is obviously going to generate more airshow bookings than a Spanish marked one so that's why it wears those colours.
