Description This is a sketch design for my wedding dress, based on the Viking Apron Dress, a historically accurate outfit of Viking women from pre-Colombian time. My dress, however, not quite so historically correct in the end ^^

I understand proportions are off, so bear with me.

The dress itself will be made from cotton, linen, or ramie fabric for ease of cleaning, movement, and ability to be sewn. The overdress or apron might be made out of a stronger, more upholstery like fabric if need be. The colors will probably be royal blue and ivory, but we have to decide if the metal will be gold or silver for any accessories. Grommets will be inserted into the sides of the apron, front and back, to allow ease for inserting the drawstring used to tighten or loosen the fit of the apron. I'm not taking chances on my weight gain or loss for the wedding. The chemise is short sleeved because the wedding will be in June, so anticipate warm weather. The dots you see on the dress only represent the gores of fabric used to allow easier flow to the dress when dancing, they are not part of the actual visible design of the chemise in the end. As for the floral headpiece, we don't know what flowers we will be using yet.

The idea of this dress was to show the 3 lineages that are the majority of my bloodline: Irish, Norwegian, and German. The dress itself is Scandinavian for my Norwegian heritage, the trim will all be Irish, and the brooches and necklaces attached to them will be German. I am hoping to find some old German brooches with stags or bulls on them, but we will see what luck I receive. Also, I am not choosing a traditional wedding gown since I am Pagan and would prefer something more earthy to wear.
