Description EDIT: You can see the finished version here: [link]

As illustrated by me, may I present to you 2 months of hard work, tons of reference, and lots of backaches, Rinna and Taliesen, a memory told by Zevran in his explanation of his latest mission. Will be colored... soon. >_>

(Also, anybody know where his knife came from? ;D)

"There is a reason I accepted this mission in Ferelden, far away from home, and it had nothing to do with any thought that I might leave the Crows. Meeting you, after all, was quite an accident.
My last mission, before this one... did not end well.
You must realize that until that day I was cocky and arrogant. I was the best Crow in Antiva, I believed, and I bragged of my conquests often... both as an assassin and lover.
One of the Crow masters grew tired of my boasting. My bid for an incredibly difficult mark was accepted, much to my surprise. A wealthy merchant with many guards and completely silent.
Taliesen agreed to be part of my team, as well as an elven lass named Rinna. She was... a marvel. Tough, smooth, wicked. Eyes that gleamed like justice. Everything I thought I desired.
Rinna was special. I had closed off my heart, I thought, but she touched something within me. It frightened me.
When Taliesen revealed to me that Rinna accepted a bribe from the merchant, told him of our plan, I readily agreed that she needed to pay the price and allowed Taliesen to kill her. Rinna begged me not to. On her knees, with tears in her eyes, she told me that she loved me and had not betrayed us. I laughed in her face and said that even if it were true, I didn't care.
Taliesen cut her throat and I watched her bleed as she stared up at me. I spat on her for betraying the Crows.
When Taliesen and I finally assassinated the merchant, we found the true source of his information. Rinna had not betrayed us after all." - Zevran Arainai

~SPOILERS~

At first I felt bad for Zevran because of his past, though after he betrayed me at the Denerim I felt no remorse for him, and killed him in an instant.
Later on I was a bit sad though.

Nice artwork btw!

Heartbreaking. I've always thought Zevran's past is by far the most tragic of all the game. Love Rinna's face.

This looks pretty damn good actually *Saw the pic awhile ago but now I got my critic mode on* Not that I'm EVER one to tell this about considering my drawing style is on par with a retarded third grader with no arms. I want to point out the chest plate on the man is lacking a little depth. Asides that it looks good. The girl came out damn fine. The guy's face seems right. I like what you did with his hand on her head and the fingers through her hair.

Those lines are very clean. .__.

I feel like I've said that about something else you've done. But it is very true.

Everything I put out now that's done in Photoshop, I expect you to say how clean my lines are. If I drew TinMan in photoshop riding a fat spotted pony, the only thing you are allowed to say is about my lines. XD

Going over every line with the pen tool, and working really big XD
That's it really, but tedious!

The dagger seems a little small, since his hand looks like it's overlapping both the handle and the blade. The texture of his beard looks strange compared to the rest of the picture, but it'll probably be fine once it's colored...

Aside from that, though, it looks great. Lots of nice details with the armor and clothes, but I think what I like the most is how she's holding on to his elbow guard (I dunno the technical term for it, lol).

Oh! And I think you're missing some lines on his armor. The upper arm plates on his knife arm compared to his other arm... Also, is that a tree of life charm on her necklace? Awesome.

It's not a dagger, it's a knife.

No, not really. Knives are smaller than daggers.

VampElf27 In reply to Secretlyshy [2010-05-24 21:40:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, fine. I'm just saying the relative size of it bothers me. I have no problem with it if it was intentional, but if it isn't then I'm calling attention to it for the artist's benefit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Secretlyshy In reply to VampElf27 [2010-05-24 22:02:15 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Well if it was a dagger, it would have a guard. Knives, however, do not have guards. So I can understand if you might be trying to bring attention to the perspective maybe? But the size and the lack of SEEING a guard would be irrelevant...seeing as how knives do not posses guards.

Point taken. In my head, I use "knife" and "dagger" interchangeably, so I didn't see a difference. Guess I'll be more careful with weapons terminology from now on. ^^"
