Description "Calm"

Triceratops horridus, caenagnathid oviraptorosaur. An airbrush painting of a resting Triceratops, with a pair of caenagnathid oviraptorosaurs staying close by for protection.

Started this last August or September but I never found the time to work on it until now.

Might fix a shadow or two in the background over the weekend.

Touched it up mainly because there was a mis-plotted shadow in the background, but also from some of the recommendations that David Krentz made. He did a quick paint over of the original to show me how I could take the painting a step further. He did a great job making it look so much cooler, namely the very strong beam of light that silhouettes the head of the Triceratops and the bird that is resting on its horn.

One of the main influences of this painting was the digital painting of Unescoceratops koppelhusae and Gryphoceratops morrisonii that Julius Csotonyi did [link] and also the Krentz 1/144 scale Triceratops model I used to help figure out the lighting and shadowing.

Completed on the 18th of January 2013.

Touched up on the 22nd of January 2013.

Touched up on the 24th of April 2013.

Done using acrylics and water-soluble color pencils.

Artwork is Copyright Β© 2013 Zubin Erik Dutta.

I actually know Julius in real life, and I'm almost sure that he'd say that this was amazing.

Supercool! May be one of the best paintings IΒ΄ve seen of a Triceratops The oviraptor looks a bit "sketchy", but it doesnΒ΄t matter at all. The painting in overall are very colorful and good

How do you mean?
The idea or the actual image?

The idea; i'd like to write a similar scene in the tale i'm writing (a post-apocalyptic fantasy with dinosaurs, if you mind)
