"Sleeping Mother"Qianzhousaurus sinensis. A digital painting I did of a Qianzhousaurus sleeping by her nest.
This is a homage to one of my favorite pieces of paleoart ever; Gregory S. Paul's sleeping mother Albertosaurus in his book Predatory Dinosaurs of the World. I got my hands on a copy of the book back in high school and fell in love with the sketch. I have always wanted to do a piece of art based on that drawing.
This is one of two pieces of art I've worked on over December that depict a mother tyrannosauroid with her nest. I'm currently working on the other as the New Year approaches. Going to have a quiet evening doing art and watching movies.
Completed in late December 2017.

I really love your style of art, how sharp and harsh all the angles are, there's not much palaeoart like it. Also FWIW I've never seen such realistic protofeathers before, the hairlike texture is on point.

This reminded me of a really old dinosaur book I used to read a lot in grade school. It was called Deinonychus: The Terrible Claw. Even though the current standards put the anatomy of the animals in the book to shame, it's still very nostalgic. I remember making fan art as a kid because of this story, and was hooked on dinosaurs ever since.
