And the reason she is unlucky is because she was with her unloving family, and because of the unhappiness she endured from those people instead of cutting ties she let her bitterness get to her and she ended up abusing and torturing Maria and from how she treats Maria I think that is why her husband left her and not just because of the debt.

And when Rosa was young she always ran away from her problems and even as an adult she still does. She never learned and grew from her experiences and that's why she is immature and Maria, despite being childish herself, is more grown up compared to her.
