5. Seeking Solace

Kri had never seen her little brother so upset before. He was huddled alone in the back of the cave, his paws wrapped around his head and face as his small, pudgy body shook with quiet sobs.

Like any concerned, older sister would be, Kri wanted nothing more than to comfort her sibling, so she trotted into the cave.

"Tumbva? What's wrong?" she asked softly as she got closer. She heard him sniff, then saw him curl into a tighter ball.

"Why do they all hate me? What did I do wrong?" For he had been the subject of Kri's friends' mockery since he had ever known them, and finally they had gone too far. This little prince could take no more.

Gasping softly, Kri darted forward and quickly embraced her brother. "Hate you? How could anyone hate you? They're just jealous!" she tried to comfort him.

He only cried harder as he pressed against his older sister's warm fur.
