Claire finds a wand in his pocket, and upon swishing it around he finds he can use it to pull out specific items from the infinite void, rather than sticking his hand in as far as it can go and fumbling around for what he wants. Using the wand he can levitate objects from his pocket to a limited degree, the range being about two feet from wherever he pulled it from. Does not levitate otherwise normal objects, unless he's directing them into his pocket. Claire wishes the wand at least had the dignity to look a little fancier than a cheap halloween magician costume wand. But no.

Limitations:
Opening can't be more than five inches in diameter, so Claire can't really see where things are or store objects that don't fit through the opening.
Things inside seem to move around randomly. It's pretty annoying.
Opening must be linked to a solid form of some kind, commonly a pocket, bag, or hat.
Magical Aid: Aisling, a gecko. Sometimes he helps Claire find things inside his pocket space where he can't reach, but mostly he just hangs out on Claire's shoulder or sits in his hair.

  Claire is the son of the magician Stella Sinclair, and her ex-husband and assistant, Teddy, whom she had married on a whim for the sake of stealing his last name (a much better fit for a magician, she said) before separating and divorcing before Claire was born, having decided that she and Teddy just didn't have the chemistry for a proper couple.
  Young Claire grew up under the care of his mother, following her from show to show and getting his schooling on the road from Mom and her entourage, and any tutors they could hire at each stay. It was hardly a surprise when small trinkets Claire stuffed into his pockets would disappear without warning. Candy, toys, loose change all fell victim to the six-year-old's wandering hands, never to be seen again. It was of little concern, and Stella always assured her little boy that she'd buy him a new whatever. What came as a surprise was when things would randomly reappear, and as he grew older, Claire started to find old junk in clothes he was almost certain had just come out of the wash. Weird. But as far as he could tell, Mom was constantly hiding things around anyway, and she was probably just pulling some elaborate, drawn out magic trick on him, to impress him in another five years' time perhaps.
Claire's parents, still working together, always seemed to be competing for his affections. A wholy unnecessary competition. Living with a magician only made matters worse. Everyday life was littered with casual sleight of hand, suddenly the fork is over there and not over here, and as much as he loves magic, it's finally started to get annoying after some fifteen years. It's still really, really impressive, and he has no clue how his mom does half the things she does, and he loves her to pieces and loves to see her test new tricks--
  But Teddy, on the other hand, is not a magician, or not a good one, and this is what he's always tried to compete with. Since Theodore Sinclair mostly only acts assistant in shows local to his area, his appeals for his son's affection have been limited to letters and the occasional surprise visist, not that he's ever let that hold him down. He's dead set on convincing his son he's cool, and it shows.

  Opening mail is a mother-son bonding experience.

  So when some mystery mail came in for Claire, the assumption was, oh god, Dad's at it again, isn't he? Claire read the letter, with a furrowed brow, and at the end had a good laugh, and showed it to his mom. But Stella, who could not see a word, glared at it and wondered if maybe Teddy had actually managed to one-up her this time, and she could not for the life of her figure out how he'd written such a letter. Several phonecalls later, and the awkward truth surfaced that Theodore Sinclair had had nothing to do with the letter. More phonecalls later, and Claire and his mother were left with a very interesting puzzle on the table.
  In the end, and after much discussion, Stella decided it was probably best for her son, and she could see the curiosity in his eyes that he was too shy to admit. She helped him pack and sent him off with a warm hug and kiss.
