Description So I was thinking about the concept of tinkerbell. She is a tinker fairy, which means she makes things from lost items from the human world. She tinters. So I thought for my own spin on the character I'd give her a SteamPunck look. I really enjoyed working on her.

Im currently in the process of inking her so she can be coloured.

While glancing at thumbnails of six of this artist's works, this piece stood out immediately. This could be due to my recent interest in steampunk themes, but regardless, the style of the piece is remarkable and its content certainly evokes the artist's vision. And sexy but not exploitative is always a plus.

I have not seen Tinkerbell reimagined in this way before. The traditional steampunk design elements are present - gears, buckles, gauges, lots of laces - but interwoven with a character that I've never seen get this treatment.

Techincally, the piece holds mixed results. The detail present in the hairstyle, clothing and wings is impressive. A great deal of time clearly was spent on getting the symmetry in those wings. The main area of opportunity I see is in the figure's form. Specifically, the hips seem tilted, which would lend itself to a contrapposto design. In this case, the shoulders, knees and feet are all even. Now, this could be an optical illusion based on the way the "petals" of the skirt are laying across her hips; either way, an adjustment might be needed. In addition, her hands seem a bit stiff and/or small. Past that, I think the figure shows excellent proportion.

The impact of the image overall is hampered by its straightforward layout. All but the face seen straight on, including the wings. This might be more dynamic if the figure was shown in motion, or turned slightly to bring the tip of a wing closer to the viewer. I do, however, like the pigeon-toed stance - shows a shyness and vulnerability.

I am really impressed with the style and accuracy of the rendering on the whole, with just a couple exceptions. I definitely look forward to seeing more work from you!

Thanks for the feedback. Its really helpful. I guess the great thing about me inking this digitally I can tweek those little things like the hips to make them appear right. I totally agree with you about the hands especially the one holding the lantern! I have adjusted that on the inked drawing but im having a few problems with it I must admit. Hands and feet are not my strong point.

Im glad you like the Steam Punk style I adopted with her. I wanted to give the whole charater a work over.

I have been contimplating redrawing this because there are a few things that really bug me. So I have been holing off colour for soooo long. Not sure if i should just take the plunge and colour it though.

VERY clever and well done! If you're solid with your technical inking, those wings are going to look A-MAY-ZING. Devil's in the details...post finished product ASAP!

I inked the roller derby logo in my gallery digitally...it was daunting but a very cool process. Kinda makes me wanna drop $2000 on a nice tablet, but I can't justify it Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Thanks, i wanted to do something completly different, but still recognisable as that Tink we all know and love. Plus recreating her in a comic book for was so much fun!
