I've been working on this for the past few days, I wish I wasn't so tight on time! I really wanted to enter since I really enjoy and love the movie, so I didn't want to miss the chance to at least try.

Erm, I'm not too good with artist comments, but here's a bit of explanation:

I decided to keep Saito's eyes open because I think it's a bit more unsettling, and the comic hints that he's up to some things of his own. I also wanted to incorporate the cityscape and lights of Tokyo/Ginza since it's one of the images that really reverberated in my mind at the beginning of the story. I also played with the stair motif from the film, which also plays into the theme of chasing and pursuit, and of course, going through layers.

I wanted to include the Black Rider..but there wasn't much room (I think it would've gotten too busy as well), and I felt the red dress was much more critical to the story, so I went with that instead.
