Description My laughter ends
As I slam the car door.
Ice ball on my spine-
I hear footsteps on the floor.
Afraid to look, I ignore the time.
Derisive clock, smiles and chimes,
Singing my fate, for now it’s two
“Late again.”
What else is new?
I lower my head, try to push by.
Don’t want to hear it. Should I scream? Cry?
Instead I just walk
Feel the weight of doom
Slowing me down
As I enter my room.
Kick off my shoes, abused in the corner,
Blond cat opens one eye,
A silent mourner.
Wash the makeup from my face,
Nightly rituals at a slower pace.
Elaborate jewelry, now a convoluted mess
Swept from my collarbone, a gentle caress.
Let down the elastic confines of my hair,
Throw myself down to slouch in the chair.
Yesterday’s homework, half-finished on the screen
Grab some coffee, substitute sleep with caffeine.
Wake up with my face pressed on the keys,
Lulled to sleep by the hum and the breeze.
Pull on fresh clothes, trod out in the world
Life continued, while my conscience whirled.

I really like this poem. I can imagine you going through those actions (probably just cause I've known you since.... forever) and yeah, what I think i mean by that is the poem does a good job with imagery. I like the part about falling asleep on the keyboard . That is all I can think of so I'm just going to be a emoticon whore now.
