Quite a departure from the usual style. How did you make this from technical point of view? Is that game a RPG or rather a sidescroller adventure?

It sure is! This is more or less a mock-up (making sure everything can be imported without setting the editor on fire), but basically we've used the Bind Pictures To Map and More Character Frames plugins in combination with some custom work on my programmer's part. We’ve got our main mechanics ready to go (the travel,Β dialogue, and evidence systems), but we’re still settling on a few things like whether or not we’ll be including mouse input.

The game will certainly be closer to a sidescroller - because it’s focused on solving crimes/conducting investigations, it’ll be logic and dialogue-based rather than having combat.Β

Let me know if you have any more questions !

What is the gameplay going to be like?

It's a detective/investigation game, so a lot of the gameplay will revolve around collecting evidence and interviewing suspects in order to solve the crime(s). All of the exploring/investigating with be done in this sidescroller style. Β

That's a pretty cool idea.Β  How far along is the development?

Not too far right now, but we're on our 9th test build. All of the gameplay mechanics are functional, so we're slowly trying to replace our placeholder materials with finished artwork/dialogue.Β

I'm making all of the artwork in Clip Studio Paint, and my team and I are making the actual game in RPG Maker MV.Β  Β
