Wind Whistler was my favourite G1 pony as a kid. I wasn't born in the 80s, ('92 all the wayyyyy)
But I loved her in the movie, and I even had the pony. I think she was the only G1 I had growing up =/
She was such a smartass though, haha.
I wanted her to look a little less girly compared to the average pony, and a bit more lanky. She even has horseshoes to weigh her down, since she reads a lot of books, and likes her hooves firmly planted on the ground. But, in doing so, her wings give her a bit more balance, and she looks a bit awkward.
