What is "Mitos"?

Mitos is my final college project, a card game for kids age 8 to 12, based on brazillian lore and legends. I drew half of the illustrations and my friend Aynná Carla Nery do Nascimento drew the others.

The Boitatá:

Also known as "running fire".In brazillian folklore, it is a enormous snake made of fire. It's name is derivated from the indigenous language Tupi, from "mboi"(snake) and "tata"(fire). According to the legend, the Boitata protects the forest from people who cause wildfires, leaving the banks of rivers and lakes to burn the people who is trying to start the fire. They say that when a traveller meets it, he must close his eyes and stay still, motionles,and it will disappear. If not, the Boitata will go after him, bothering until the traveller gets killed.

O que é "Mitos"?

Mitos é meu trabalho final de faculdade, um jogo de cartas para crianças de 8 a 12 anos, baseado no folclore e nas lendas brasileiras. Eu desenhei metade das ilustrações e minha amiga Aynná Carla Nery do Nascimento fez as outras.

O Boitatá:

Também conhecido como "fogo que corre".No folclore brasileiro, é uma grande cobra feita de fogo. Seu nome é derivado da língua indígena Tupi, de "mboi"(cobra) e "tata"(fogo). De acordo com a lenda, o Boitatá protege as florestas das pessoas que provocam queimadas, saindo dos leitos de rios e lagos para queimar quem está tentando provocar o incêndio. Dizem que o viajante, ao encontrá-la, deve fechar os olhos e permanecer parado, imóvel, então ela desaparecerá. Caso contrário, a Boitatá o perseguirá, infernizando-o até matá-lo.
