Description
In the 1800s, a glowing object had been spotted in the sea next to the Higo Province of Japan, prompting the town's official to investigate. There, he witnessed a scaly creature with long hair, a mouth like bird's bill and three limbs. Addressing the official, the creature identified herself as an amabie and told him that she came from the open sea to deliver a prophecy: "Good harvest will continue for next six years and should a disease spreads, show a picture of me to those who fall ill and they will be cured."

Afterward, she returned to the sea.

Now, she's back to tell you all to wash your hands and stay safe! There's a nasty bug out there that needs to be stopped and we all need your help to do your part!

((I found out yesterday that artists have been drawing this yokai and posting it on social media in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, so I thought I should join in with my own take on the mystical merfolk!))
