Usually it's angsty, or just outright dark. I've been pretty heavily involved with Death Note for the past year or more, but YuGiOh has been making a big comeback for me, and my pen's turned that way as well. One large fic I'm planning centers around Ryou and Yami Bakura, and there be much angst. The 2 I've already written with him are fairly angsty as well... maybe I should try something cheerful.

Sadly I've never really gotten into Death Note. I know the story and such, bthat's about it..
Is there a reason you got interested in YuGiOh again?
Somehow I look forward to that fic you're planning because I'm running out of fanfiction to read What would it be about if I'm allwoed to ask? ^^

Well, I was a pretty big fan when the original series was airing on Cartoon Network, but lost interest for some reason halfway through Battle City. Then then about a year and a half back a couple friends tied me down and forced me to watch LittleKuriboh's Abridged Series. Fell in love with that, went out and finished buying up the manga collection, watched all 5 seasons of the real series and am being taught the card game by my sister.

Feel free to ask about fic plans, it's something I can ramble about and I only keep bits and pieces for surprises. The long one that's still in the plotting out stage is going to be focusing on the dynamics between Ryou and Yami Bakura and - to a certain extent - Akefia. I'm planning on having it as a kind of behind the scenes type of thing, taking place during canon, but in little pieces of time we never see in the series. How Yami Bakura starts taking over Ryou's mind, what kind of effect this has on him, what kind of effect Ryou has on his Yami, and how it all effects Ryou's interactions with his friends. Even more than 'angst' or 'dark', I would label a lot of my writing as 'psychological', and this one's a good example.

I just think that there's a lot of potential with those characters, and really want to portray Ryou as a more mature, knowing character than what we usually see. He's so often seen to be someone who's taken advantage of without really fighting back, then at the end of it all he's still his cheerful self without really evolving. I wanna mess with that a bit.

I've watched the original series as well wenn it was aired on TV in Germany (although I liked to pretend that I hated it), then somehow just forgot about it..until I've watched the Abridged Series a few weeks ago x)
And you're being taught how the card game works? That's really nice of your sister! ^^ I know absolutely no one in real life who likes YGO>_<

You know what? I'm really looking forward to your story already, just from reading this! It always bothered me a lot that in the end he always is cheerful and happy in the end, as if nothing has happened to him >_>

And don't worry about rambling, I enjoyed reading it and I tend to ramble as well

I think we all pretended to hate it at first. Somehow the Abridged Series just makes okay to like it... or just makes it all dorkier. Either way.

Slowly I am being taught the card game. I think I have enough cards for two decks, but neither of them would be at all balanced. I learn slowly. I only know two people in real life who know and like YGO, though I've met one person who's never even heard of it. At all. I didn't think that was possible, considering how mainstream it is. Ah well. Online YGO community is vast and varied.

Oh, yay! When I get the first chapter up I'll drop you a line. I'd love to hear feedback from you.

It still was kind of hard to admit that I like it but in the end I just..I don't know, I think I just gave in

Slowly but surely ^^ And it's probably really complicated, isn't it?
But maybe I should start learining how the game works as well.. though I have no idea where to buy YGO cards now, when YGO still was on TV you could get them anywhere
Someone who didn't know YGO at all? Wow!

So far, yeah, the game's pretty complex, but it's not too hard. It's weird, but it's like the rules are simple, but because it's so large, it can and does get complicated pretty quickly. Like chess or Go, I suppose.

English isn't your first language? Well, there's how good *I* think it is, I couldn't tell it wasn't what you were raised with. Impressive, m'dear.

The thing that really confuses me are all of these cards with all their different effects and such, it really confuses me I wouldn't even now what cards to put in my deck! But it probably is easier with some help, isn't it?
Ah, Go.. I've never played it but it looks horribly complicated!
