What I love about this photo is its ambiguity, is the sense of adventure looming large. That's all I can love about it; that's all I can say about it. And now for the paradox: Let me elaborate why I can't say any more about this photo.
I don't know where these people are heading towards or abandoning;
I don't know if they're happy or sad, frightened or apathetic, tired or angry;
I don't know if they're travelling in winter or summer;
I don't know if this is their first journey or their last.
In short, the adventure is exciting and terrible.
I'm giving four and a half stars for vision because this photo fulfils its objective of telling a story, of keeping something back, of retaining something of the atmosphere of going on a journey; but as to whether I've understood it, I have no idea!
I'm giving three and a half stars for originality because while this scene is nothing new to me (airports and bus and train stations have featured quite often in my life), the photographer doesn't necessarily know this; and besides, nobody could ever take this photograph in the same way again. These people have passed through once; but what are the chances of finding them all here again?
I'm giving a full five stars for technique. I think this is a perfect photograph. Through its clever composition, it tells a story that suggests everything but confirms nothing.
I'm giving a further full five stars for impact. This haunting photograph will remain in my memory for some time...

The blurry people make me feel as though I'm walking along inside it!
