Replicating the look and the feel of Battleship Bay inside 3ds Max was a really challenging part of making this. There needed to be a perfect balance of yellow and pink hues with an abundance of contrast and saturation as well, all of which conflicted with each other to no end. Using 3ds Max, I re-built one of my favorite parts of the game - Battleship Bay - using assets available in the game files. The scene was lit with a virtual Sun (for hard shadows) and a "Dome" light (for color variation). A 20mm camera with subtle depth of field was used to replicate the player's in-game view. Color correction was done inside Photoshop. No in-game screenshots were used.
