Old style photo for the abandoned train station of Jaffna destroy 20 years ago because of violent fights during the war between the Tamil tigers and the Sri Lankan government so this big stations as no trains and no railways only fews cows and homeless peoples living in the ruins. With no railways the Jaffna peninsula was cut from the rest of the country isolated to contain the rebellion in the north and control the main passage "elephant pass". The passage through which the train passed then became a huge mine fields that must be cleared. Seen on the roadside many deminers when we are going to Jaffna. But the railway will reconnect to Jaffna since few years due to the pacification of the country, new railways are in constructions - Sri Lanka, January 2013
