When I hear the name "Hilbert" I imgaine a 50 years old british man from the 19th century.
Which is why I call him Touya. And if there's anyone that does't like the Japanese name, they should just call him "Black".
Hilbert is just.. a horrible... horrible name for a protagonist of a pokemon game.

Is it any worse than a boring name like "Red" or "Gold", which are just colors with no meaning? D: "Ethan" has far more significance compared to that bro.

They have actual names, Gold's real (well, default) name is Hibiki, in english it's Ethan. Fans just name them by the color of the game.
I like staying with their original, Japanese, default names. Therefore I say "Satoshi" and not "Ash", "Hikari" and not "Dawn". and so on.
